However as the birthdays add up in my case, one gets a chance looking back, it is amazing as to how one's vision has very much improved.
A rather old catchy phrase, done originally by whom, I do not know, but it goes something like this. Do not follow I may not lead, Do not lead I may not follow, walk side by side, it will be better for both of us.
Having achieved an award, recognized for excelled leadership internationally, I will bring some of those ingredients and constructive moves, not only into into play with the present theme.... The distance is the same, either one step backward to failure , or one step FORWARD TO SUCCESS. My motto, always choose to take the one forward. Mixing a bit of Divine with faith, always gives an edge of light, dispelling the darkness of uncertainty.

But first the question: Who takes supplements? You can appreciate that I am ever exposed and therefore conversant , about my comments and postings. "Several studies also show supplements are popular among health professionals, including dieticians, who often tell their clients they can get all the nutrients they need from a balanced diet. In one study by mail 60% of dieticians responded and admitted they regularly took supplements, usually "multivitamins and mineral products" vitamin C and iron.
Some studies also show that supplement use amongst Doctors and Medical students is not infrequent. One showed that 14% percent of faculty members at Harvard Medical School, usually supplemented their diets and among Medical students at the university of Maryland School of Medicine, more than 60% percent said they took dietary supplements.
WHY do people take vitamins?
According to one review of studies, it is either because they are uncertain about nutritional inadequacy, about their diets, or they desire better health, than they perceive to be obtainable from medical consultation, or they have decided to treat themselves for an illness.
Frequently given reasons for taking supplements include" to prevent colds and other illnesses" "To give me energy" and to " make up for what is not in the food. " AT least 2 studies indicate that vitamin users tend to have a low opinion of the quality of today's foods.
Health professionals seem concerned that people may harm themselves by overdosing on vitamins and minerals. Does that actually happen much?
Not according to information compiled by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA). In 1986 the US. government agency asked Doctors to report any adverse side effects, they noted in their patients, who took vitamins and mineral supplements. After 3, years the agency issued its findings: Only (11) adverse reactions had been reported and most were minor side effects, such as constipation. In comparison, in that same period of time, the agency recived 4,000 (FOUR THOUSAND REPORTS) of adverse reactions from the artifical sweetner " ASPARTAME " of course bear in mind that these findings, may also mean that Doctor's are not able to spot and identify such side effects.
VITAMINS A: WHAT EXACTLY DOES IT DO?
Vitamin A is essential for human health. A deficiency may cause night blindness and other eye disorders lowered resistence to infection, poor tooth development, stunting of growth and fertility problems.
Vitamin A deficiency also causes weakning of epithelial cells, which cover the internal and external surfaces of the body, including the lining of blood vessels and other small cavaties. Epithelial cells can be found in the skin, lungs, developing teeth, inner ear, cornea, gonads, glands and their ducts, gums, the front of the lens of the eye, the sensory part of the nose, the cervix and other areas of the body.
Vitamin A must be present for these cells to differentiate to go from their immature to their mature states. If these cells fail to mature because of vitamin A deficiency, often the result is an alteration in skin and mucus membranes that resembles a precancerous condition and that, given the proper condition can lead to cancer. Weakened epitheelial tissues also pave the way for a variety of infections.
VITAMIN (D) What is VITAMIN D ?
Like vitamin (a) (e) (k), vitamin (D) is fat - soluble vitamin. In its' pure form, it is a white crystal. As a supplement, however, it is usually found as a light yellow oil.
Vitamin D is unique from other vitamins in two ways: first it can be synthesized in the skin from sunlight, which is why sometimes called the sunshine vitamin. Given enough exposure to sunlight, you need consume no vitamin D at all in the foods you eat. Second Vitamin D is the only vitamin whose biologically active form is a hormone-calcitriol. Vitamin D is converted into this hormone in the kidneys before it performs its' role in the body.
WHAT DOES VITAMIN (D) DO?
Vitamin D's most important role is the regulation of 2 minerals, calcium and phosphorus. Both minerals are important for normal growth and development, especially the mineralization (hardening) of bones).
Vitamin D stimulates the absorption of calcium from the gut, without it, calcium cannot be absorbed . It also helps harden bones and stimulates the kidneys to re-absorb some calcium, thus saving the body from excreting calcium. Also prevents rickets, a disease of calcium deprived bone that results in bow legs, knock knees and other bone defects. Vitamin D supplements may help treat psoriasis and slow or even reverse some cancers, such as myeloid leukemia.
Vitamin A . The FIRST VITAMIN EVER DISCOVERED, VITAMIN A is essential for good vision, especially in dim light and for healthy skin, hair and mucous membranes of the nose, throat and respiratory system and digestive system.
Vitamin E encompasses a family of compounds called tocopherols, of which alpha-tocopherol is the most common. It is required for proper function of immune system, endocrine system and sex glands. As a powerful antioxidant, it prevents unstable molecules known as free radicals from damaging cells and tissues. In this capacity, vitamin E deters atherosclerosis, accelerates the healing of wounds, protects lung tissue from inhaled pollutants, may reduce risk for heart disease and may prevent premature skin aging. Researchers suspect that vitamin E has other beneficial effects ranging from preventing cancer and cataracts to alleviating rheumatoid arthritis and skin disorders associated with lupus.
Vitamin C Is well known for its ability to prevent and treat scurvy, a disease that causes swollen and bleeding gums, aching bones and muscles and in some cases made of collegen, which depends on vitamin C for its production. In this role, vitamin C helps heal wounds, burns, bruises and broken bones. As a powerful antioxidant and immune system booster, C may alleviate the pain of rheumatoid arthritis, protect against atheroscler and heart disease And help prevent some forms of cancer and has the reputed potential (yet unapproved) to prevent the common cold.
C.... being water soluable, excess vitamin C is excreted in the urine, so large amounts of it may be taken without fear of toxicity.
THIAMINE IS SOMETIMES CALLED THE ENERGY VITAMIN, BECAUSE IT IS NEEDED TO METABOLIZE CARBOHYDRATES, FATS, AND PROTEINS AND HELPS CONVERT EXCESS GLUCOSE INTO STORED FAT. In the 1930's thiamine was discovered to be the cure for the crippling and potentially fatal disease beriberi....RIBOFLAVIN helps produce energy from carbohydrates, fats and proteins. riboflavin also promotes healthy skin, hair, nails, and mucous membranes; aids the production of red blood cells, corticosteroids and thyroid hormones and is required for the proper function of the nerves, eyes, and adrenal glands. NIACIN also known as vitamin B3 .... Niacin contributes to more than 50 vital bodly processes. Among other things, it helps convert food into energy; build red blood cells; synthesize hormones, fatty acids and steroid; maintain skin, nerves, and blood vessels; support the gastrointestinal tract; stabilize mental health; and detoxify certain drugs and chemicals in the body. In addition, it helps insulin regulate blood sugar levels. NIACIN is also a powerful drug, capable of lowering blood cholesterol and triglycerides, dilating blood vessels to improve circulation and alleviating depression, insomnia and hyperactivity.
VITAMIN B 6 encompasses a family of compounds, that includes pyridoxine, pyridoxamine and pyridoxal. This vitamin supports immune function, nerve impulse transmission (especially in the brain), energy metabolism and red blood cell synthesis. Prescribed as a drug, vitamin B6 can sometimes alleviate carpal tunnel syndrome, infant seizures and premenstrual syndrome.
PANTOTHENIC : the Greek term pan in pantothenic acid means everywhere indicating this vitamin's abundance. Along with other B vitamins, pantothenic acid is required from converting food into energy; building red blood cells; making bile; and synthesizing fats, adrenal gland steriods, antibodies and acetylcholine and other transmitters - a pantothenic acid supplement, calicum pantothenate, is available.
BIOTIN also named as being vitamin B7 and H Along with other B vitamins, biotin helps convert food to energy and is required for the synthesis of carbohydrates, proteins, and fatty acids. Biotin is especially important for healthy hair, skin and nails.
